Has been with us-
I paint real things, unreal things, impossible things, I do drawings, I teach small things, I work with oil paint and draw with graphite, I get cross, and I slowly progress.
Abstract expressionism:
Pieces evolve through time, growing like algae across whichever surface they sit upon.
Broad gestural marks are made intuitively, followed by a self-compounding necessity for consideration as pockets of aesthetic anomaly and disorder are modified, adjusted, or worked over with the goal of balance; balance of colour, shape, and composition. These two conflicting ideas; gesture (expression), and consideration (restraint), are concentrated into a two dimensional plane.
When viewed together, evolving layers of motifs and methodologies can be followed like threads through a visual landscape that crosses the entire body of work.
Sculptural Surrealism:
Creating surreal landscapes of impossible (and usually geometric) sculptures. Putting them in rooms and out in larger impossible worlds is an entertaining avenue of looking into unseen worlds.
Drawing:
I tend to draw people, people at the pub or sitting more formally - I don’t mind, it’s all a challenge. I started my “serious” art journey in this area and it’s always been a challenge, but that’s what I like about it. The eternal struggle to do a good drawing.
Portraiture:
My painting practice was for about 3 years exclusively one of portraiture. It’s funny that I hardly do any these days but I do return to it as a form. It’s just as nail biting as ever but relies upon drawing skills that I want to focus a bit more on right now.

He/Him
I like the warmth of everyone here. I like that I have a space to call my own within a lovely and truly loving community. It’s good to notice when you’re in some of the golden years of your life, not many places can make you do that.
