Join us for a series of 3 live drawing and collage workshops led by artist and Assembly House studio holder, Rosie Vohra. These one hour workshops will be centred around an exploration of drawing materials and ways of drawing, the act of looking and the importance of play!

In the first session, Rosie will be showing you how to make your own sketchbooks and ways of using different drawing materials to create a sequence of timed drawings from places and objects around the home.

The second session will involve drawing from your imagination with a helping hand from collage techniques to bring your imagination to life.

In the second session Rosie will be showing you how to make and use a viewfinder so you can 'become a microscope' and create playful drawings from the things you can see around you.

In the last session, we will dive head first into a box of collected collage material and begin drawing with our scissors.

Each workshop is designed to challenge your usual image-making habits or give you some new ways into starting a drawing or artwork. These workshops are open to all experience levels so seasoned artists and beginners are welcome!

Materials you will need:

  • A3 paper of sketch pad

  • Pencils

Rosie Vohra is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator based in Leeds. She studied at The Royal Drawing School in 2014, and completed her undergraduate degree in Fine Art at Leeds Arts University. Her practice emerges from a focus on drawing and collage but is inherently bound up in different types of making, from sculpting and whittling to sewing and painting. She collects printed ephemera, online images and found objects and asks these materials to sit with her drawings from observation and imagination.

This series of workshops is supported by Arts Council England and Assembly House is supported by arts@leeds, part of Leeds City Council.
