Any excuse to dance is a Leeds based collective who put together movie nights that bring together P.O.C who are interested in different styles of dance.

This film is made of clips from break dance battles to voguing interviews to jitting tutorials. The film focusses on celebrating black culture and shows how dance has developed over the past 40 years.

The film is by local artist Alex Clarke. Alex designs one-of-a-kind clothing, makes zines, as well as painting, drawing, illustrating, DJing and break dancing.

This film was originally screened by the brilliant Sable Radio

We have also commissioned 2 accompanying dance tutorials from Leeds-based dancer Mayowa Ogunnaike. Mayowa has danced with Phoenix Dance, ACE and Uchenna Dance, and trained at Trinity Laban. Her tutorials will use Laban's movement efforts and are open to experienced dancers and beginners - more details soon
