Applications are now open for 2 paid commissions for all artists living in Leeds. Proposals will be accepted for creative works in any form which can be exhibited digitally.
Artists living in Leeds are invited to respond to one of the themes outlined below. Responses can be in any format that can be shared digitally; this could be digital drawing, video, animation, film, sound or painting, drawing, dance, performance, or sculpture that can be filmed, photographed or scanned. It could also be a research/community-engagement/community-organising based project which is documented online via a blog or video. We are especially interested in projects that engage with the digital space in a creative way.
There are 2 key strands that run through our 2020 Digital Programme’s projects and commissions. These themes are:
Movement, mindfulness and connection with our bodies
Positive outcomes of lockdown and isolation, and lessons learned for the future
All submitted ideas and created artworks would remain solely the Copyright and Intellectual Property of the artist.
You must be based in Leeds to be eligible for this commission. You must be available to complete the project by Monday 3rd August 2020.
You must hold a UK bank account. This fund is for the creation of new artworks and can not be used for artworks which have already been made.
Priority will be given to artists who have not already received a grant for their practice through Arts Council England, AN or the Freeloads Foundation. This fund IS available to current students.
In all of our upcoming commissions, we are keen to support BAME artists, d/Deaf and disabled artists, LGBTQIA artists and working class artists. We understand that there can be particular barriers to applying for artists from these backgrounds.
Applications are open to all regardless of age, race, gender, disability or educational experience. If you have additional access needs or require this brief in another format please contact or call 07927516615 and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
We understand that there is always more than can be done and we welcome any questions, comments, requests or feedback to ensure we are supporting the artistic community in the best way we. Please get in touch with us at
We do not require artists to have formal education, extensive professional experience or established connections or networks. We are asking for an indication of ideas and direction, you do not need to provide a budget, detailed project plan or final ideas/sketches. We can also provide the application and supporting materials in large font and different colour combinations to support people’s needs.
