Armley Sculpture Trail
Building on the success of the Armley Horses project, we expanded the model to create a sculpture trail. Take a look at the route map & interpretation, installation shots, artist portraits with their co-created sculpture outcomes, participant workshops to design the sculptures and our Armley Festival engagement workshops.
Community art projects, 2019 - 2023
Take a look at our various pop-up community projects for Armley Festival. These activities encourage people to paint and draw no matter what their experience level.
We also produced a series of Armley Murals on the estate opposite our gallery. The locations for these murals were chosen by residents and the 'Welcome to Armley' mural was co-design with them.
The floor mural was commissioned by Armley Action Team to celebrate their new pocket park.
Community heritage projects 2019 - 2022
In 2019 we produced Unseen Histories, a festival celebrating Black History in Leeds, led by artist and historian Joe Williams.
We also supported artist / research Rosalind Williams to create free booklets about Armley's heritage.
Community garden & environmentalism
From 2024 - 2026 we have been transforming a derelict courtyard in our building into a community garden, in response to neighbourhood consultation and a commitment to supporting our natural environment. This space will be open for local residents to do workshops, contribute the garden and learn about sustainability.
